About the Gen

The ingenious are always fanciful, and the truly imaginative never otherwise than analytic. -Edgar Allan Poe

Descending from their mountainous homes, the Gen are spread throughout the world, some living above ground and others below. Known for their adaptability and industrious nature, the Gen tend towards practicality in their day-to-day lives while still being great contributors to experiments in both magic and manufacturing.
Their main seat of power is the industrialized Titus under the rule of King Wilhelm and his caveborn wife Alexandrina, which houses the largest clockmakers guild in the world. This sprawling city also functions as a cultural hub, chronicling the Gen’s ever-changing culture. There are also several small Gen communities which do not pay homage to the Monarchy of Titus; you can often tell whether a Gen is from an independent community or not based on their dress, with independents preferring simple tunics, skirts and breeches of wool, linen and cotton, while those connected to Titus might include more tailored garments like vests, corsets and frock coats potentially influenced by their trade with the Ketski.

The Monarchy of Titus
A hereditary monarchy with a supporting appointed council, the lineage of the current Titan King Wilhelm spans back several hundred years. A born surface dweller, Wilhelm caused a bit of a kerfuffle when he chose the very headstrong Alexandrina, a peasant Caveborn, for his wife. Queen Drina (as she is affectionately named) is a passionate advocate of workers' rights and has used much of her co-reign to improve the lot of those unfortunate enough to find themselves in servitude. Taking on the revered Clockmakers Guild, she also negotiated the Clockforged Autonomy Act of 1789. This act ensures that created Clockforged within the Monarchy are apprenticed to a trade within 6 months of activation, recognized as both Living and Sentient creatures under the law along with the penalties and protections that entails, and are to be paid, tried and employed as adult Gen after 2 active years. The CfAA also laid the groundwork for Clockforged to vote like other adult citizens once 2 years of age, however this part of the Act has not been pursued widely among the outlying provinces.
King Wilhelm Ascended and took the throne in 1777, and married Alexandrina in 1778.
The couple have two living children, Crown Princess Ariane (1780 - present, Caveborn) and Prince Alfred (1786 - present , called Alfie, Surface Dweller features), and the deceased Princess Hildegard (1779 - 1782) , Surface Dweller) who passed away from a strangely aggressive fever that did not respond to any Chemistry or Spirit magic that the royals could access. The same sickness affected many toddlers throughout Terra.

Colonies
Viceroy of Frobisher - far northern mining colony on the eastern coast of Cottus
Viceroy of Clarke - temperate agricultural colony on the eastern coast of Cottus

Flag of Titus
A Gold field with a stylized black and white owl with white crown. The crowned Owl is a regal symbol of wisdom), the black and white for justice and order, as well as paper (learning) and coal (industry). The owl's body comes to a blade-like point alluding to Titus' military might without being overt about it.

Lesser Gen Kingdoms
Naar - Settled by the multiracial Great Horde, the ancestral province of Naar and the ruins of Lakepoint host a Gen majority. The reaches of Naar have shrunk dramatically over the last 5 centuries following their great defeat in 1227
Kamouraska - Small Gen kingdom that has resisted Titus rule across the ages and maintains their independence.
Lorelai – Former province of Titus. Made a free state following the Dawn-Titus War.
Dominion of Halif – former province of Titus, made a free merchant state following the Halifasian Riots, PC play zone, despite trade it is still frontierland and fairly wild.

Kingdoms with Significant Gen Populace
Cyriland Kingdom - originally an independant Gen Kingdom, they are now under the protection of the Ketskian Republic following war with Airigat.
Airigat - originally a colony of the Dawn Empire, this magocracy has independently flourished since the aftermath of the Dawn-Titus war of 1415-1432.

Clockforged - requires LC to unlock
Mechanical creations hailing from Titus, the animation of Clockforged is one of the most closely guarded secrets of the Clock Makers’ Guild. Following the Clockforged Autonomy Act of 1789, all created Clockforged within the Monarchy of Titus are apprenticed to a trade by the time they are 6 months active. Considered at mental maturity after 2 years active, prior to this Clockforged are considered juvenile for legal and employment purposes, and may often return to their parent Clocksmith for calibration and replacement parts. While granted full autonomy and suffrage within Titus and its closest provinces, the Clockforged are still considered mechanical oddities and second rate across much of Terra, excepting the Grand Horde of Naar and the Gulahack Alliance.
Passive Powers:
Scrapwork body: Clockforged have no use for food, gaining no benefit from its consumption; they instead rest for 1hr during the appropriate time and recover their lost skills.
