Global Organizations of Note Empty Global Organizations of Note

Thu Oct 08, 2020 10:06 pm
The following are some of the guilds and organizations that exist across the world of Terra, and operate in many kingdoms.

The Whispered: A mysterious group of powerful people rumored to have their hands throughout history.  Some say they have toppled kings from the shadows and control the world through secret arts and rituals lost to time.  Others say it is nothing more than rich people looking to project power and enjoy luxurious parties hidden from the world.  Whatever the truth  is, it is rumoured that to say their name too much will incur great danger.  They are the bogeymen, the hidden government, influencers without leaving their names in record.

The Clock Maker’s Guild: Headquartered in Titus with smaller meeting halls throughout the world, The Clock Makers are a driving force of industrial development throughout Terra mixing precise mechanical invention with magic. Under the guidance of The Inventor, they created the Clockforged in the latter 1100s.

Children of the Iron Dragon
: Founded in the ruins of the Angel’s Graveyard which only become visible in the low tide, the children are the devoted of the fallen dragon Regaset.  Regaset ruled over the Angel’s Graveyard and surrounding lands, taking in any they thought had the iron will for conquest and war making mighty warriors of them.  One day Regaset disappeared, and the Angel’s Graveyard mysteriously sank into the ocean as Angelus split from the mainland of Gyges during a cataclysmic earthquake. This left those who called themselves Children without their parent dragon and turning to outside patrons for purpose.  It is said that only the upper warlords of the order know where to find the dragon.  For the rest of the Children they seek work as mercenaries or as free companies under warlords who take lands for themselves and build fortresses upon them.

Saffron Caravan: A confederation of trading companies that keep to a common merchants constitution.  While not the only company of traders the confederation is a larger body that encourages trade and profit for all members.  Aspects of this constitution are: deals made among members are to be made at fair prices, mutual protection on road for members, provide aid in negotiations and share profits for it, safe harbor for members, offer tips to profitable routes.  The protectors of the constitution are hand picked by the last protectors to insure there is continuity.

Anno Stellar: A monastic order who looks to the stars for guidance rather than any of the greater beings.  They worship Father Sol and Mother Luna, and seek guidance from their children--the stars.  The order is known for long robes in simple colors and their keeping on knowledge. The order also offers charity and seeks to build a good name for themselves with locals as to facilitate the philosophy and their work.  Many lost grimoires or prophecies are kept within their fortress monasteries.  At times grand masters seek out some lost mystery and so send out brothers to recover it, be it by discovery or by force.  The sisters of the order are rarely seen but are said to be the reason the order almost never needs to carry weapons for a sister’s blade is always sharp.

The Silver Spear Lodge:  The Silver Spear is a Lodge of big game and monster hunters.  Members compete to bring down bigger and bigger targets and monsters.  Members prefer the use of Spears, Lances, and bows when hunting as to preserve the hide of the monster they kill.  Some members of the lodge hunt for profit and sell their services to those who have a monster problem, for others the hunt for the biggest target is a way of life.  Along untamed parts lodges can be found in settlements, once civilization takes hold the lodge moves more towards the wild.

The Oracles of Sangin: A semi-religious order of Seers and Oracles who serve not only Sangin, but also the world governments at large. They offer advice and their visions to rulers around the world with apparent neutrality. Their headquarters lies in the education-centric Necropolis of Din, in the western foothills of the Stal’noy Mountains.

The Order of the Black Rose: This order of Assassins perform tailored hits on high value targets: death is guaranteed. They get their name by the calling card that always makes an appearance after a contract. A single black rose is usually found by the loved one of a victim. Sometimes a bolder statement is made and the rose is found with the victim's corpse. Little is known about their practice beyond rumors. They are rumored to have a seat of operation within the Necropolis of Ash with whispers abounding that they have a deal not to target the noble families in exchange for a blind eye. They are said to have both made and broken kingdoms across all 3 continents, possibly being a remnant of the Masked Society.
