Dragons of Terra and their Domains Empty Dragons of Terra and their Domains

Dragons of Terra

Dragons are greater beings who may or may not choose to engage with mortals to reach their goals. Thought to be among the children of Naeth the Shaman, dragons are much more than massive magical creatures but also masters of certain regions of the world as well as influences within it. Able to conjure and manipulate Rifts to varying degrees, as well as other magics, they divided the world amongst themselves in Terra’s infancy in parallel to the mortal powers of the world. Dragons are ageless and immortal with the ability to transfer their essence into any of their clutch if necessary. It is possible to ritually transform yourself into a partially draconic being, but you need to acquire a dragon's egg (colours listed below) to do so.

Agreve the Obsidian
Insignia: A spiky black crown, usually on a white field. Agreve's generals (Pawns) are permitted to use crown iconography with gems included in the design.
Eggs: Black
Sky King of the northern tip of Briareus and terror of the sky, Agreve’s relationship with mortals is that of master to pawns and slaves. He and his forces have terrorized any lands not under the purview of another dragon as agreed in the Thundering.

Appalia the Copper
Insignia: Fire, often as a burning castle
Eggs: Orange
Mistress of the wildlands east of Titus and north of Clan Cazador’s ancestral lands, Appalia tolerates mortals to a degree but prefers the company of fire Aethers and volcanic creatures. She permits trade routes and small wayhouses through her land, in exchange for tithes of rare metals and livestock, but will not tolerate military companies following the upset the Dawn-Titus war caused her aetheric friends.

Argo’lest the Coral
Insignia: An anchor, usually with rope
Eggs: Pink
Ruler of the seas and one of the Myriad, Argo’lest has been engaged with mortals for as long as they have dipped toes in the sea. They have an adventurous spirit and generous nature, but a temper as tumultuous as the sea leading to the Dawn Empire’s development of air travel. While revered and feared among mortals and accepting of their offerings and service, Argo’lest prefers the company of deep sea creatures. Argo’lest can travel anywhere they wish in the blink of an eye while in water and spends most of their days submerged, according to hearsay.

Divero the Emerald

Insignia: Chess piece, often on a maze
Eggs: Green
A brilliant strategist and one of the Myriad, Divero’s domain covers much of the wilds of east Gyges. Originally ambivalent to the actions of mortals, the damage of the Dawn-Titus war across their domain brought Divero’s eye on mortal behaviour. The further wars between Airigat and Cyriland, which left both mortal powers weakened and reduced in size, led to Divero banishing any warmongers from settling within his territory. Among his other global influences, Divero’s rule has perhaps spared the world from another conflict between the two eastern kingdoms.

Mascarvo the Ruby
Insignia: A sword with ruby pommel, often depicted wedged into stone and made of mithril and gold
Eggs: Red
Chieftain of the north-east Gyges, Mascarvo is physically the largest and strongest of all dragons. He is also considered to only have average intelligence compared to the millenia spanning wisdom and cunning of his siblings. Impressed by feats of strength, courage and determination, to live under Mascarvo is to live by your own efforts. Clan Naar managed to gain the dragon’s favour and protection only in the last few centuries, having started a cult centering around battle games to honour and entertain Mascarvo. Mascarvo has a rivalry with Parva the Topaz, who kept the Ruby engaged in battle long enough that the reaches of Naar could be whittled back. Red eggs.

Parva the Topaz
Insignia: A golden lute
Eggs: Yellow
Parva is unusual among dragons, having allowed the Monarchy of Titus to settle and dictate laws within her territory in exchange for creature comforts and collaborative rulership of her province between Kamouraska and the Dominion of Halif. Comparatively small in size to other greater dragons, Parva is said to have a great appreciation for mortal food, jewelry and arts, accepting gifts via shrines that dot the Monarchy’s main roads. Parva styles herself as the inspiration behind Liamspeare’s defiance and eventual revolt against Cyrrus, the former Master of Augmentation, however neither the god nor any of the other greater beings have confirmed her claim.

Regaset the Iron
[Insignia:[/i] An iron gauntlet
Eggs: Grey
Not seen for centuries, but with their clutch still intact, Regaset is the lord of the Angel’s Graveyard and the surrounding land, having claimed dominion over what would become Angelus, Lorelai and the coastal portion of the Monarchy of Titus. Their followers, the Children of the Iron Dragon, still hold out hope for the return of their patron.

Stal’noy the Silver
Insignia: A silver tribal dragon skull
Eggs: White
Commanding the expanse from the Ketskian Republic to Makutsk and the Northern Sea to the Dawn Empire, Stal’noy permits trade routes through their lands but aggressively opposes the expansion of the Ketskian Republic past his mountains. Stal’noy tolerated the presence of the Desair siblings within his mountains, some believing the Lycan-cursed triplets ultimately served Stal’noy. Stal'noy's resource rich lands play home to more wolves than people, and also an unsettling number of spontaneously raised unliving of all root species in response to the high concentration of Spirit-aligned mana in the environment.

Szenxi the Amethyst
Insignia: Crossed pen and scalpel with purple handles, in a pinch a purple X will do.
Eggs: Purple
With lands bordering Rebirth, Szenxi is apparently the eldest of the greater dragons but the least interested in expanding their power, preferring to soothe and redirect interlopers. With a territory overrun by strange magical creatures, Szenxi and his drakes spend time hunting and studying creatures not seen anywhere else in Terra, while ignoring mortals for the most part unless they offer interesting specimens for him to dissect.

Yoav the Sapphire
Insignia: A pale blue full moon, often surrounded by mist or clouds
Eggs: Blue
Master of southern Briareus, Yoav does not care for mortals and is known as being both a quiet and quick predator. With smaller wings, they can fly, but not for great distances. While some kinfolk live within their territory, they do not form large settlements for fear of upsetting Yoav and becoming his next meal. Said to be impressed by stealth, Yoav is rumoured to have caught and released various mortals over the years for the world’s deadliest game of hide and seek. Blue moons, that is the second full moon of a month, are said to caused by Yoav calling a Grand Hunt, in which his drakes are permitted to travel anywhere in Terra in search of prey.
