Prophecies

Prophecy, whether one believes in the power of the Oracles of Sangin or not, plays an important part in the  superstitions of Terra. Here some will be collected as their source is verified.


Age of Ascension:
"When the golden son/sun rises, married to the lowly earth, will Terra's veins teem with new life and the purest of changes. The old balance will be upset and new heroes will awake."
Believed to have been fulfilled with the crowning of the Titan King Wilhelm in 1777NE, a shift in power is whispered to have occurred, awakening the old magics which allowed the first Ascended Beings to wake. New veins of Manacite, raw magical energy in crystalline form, have since been discovered and are heavily guarded around the world. Aside from several tasks of self-realization and self-improvement, a true Ascension cannot take place without the presence of Manacite.


The Slumber of Aechus:
Believed to be a millennium off, this prophecy speaks of a great cooling of the earth and a retreat of the Aethers as the greater being Aechus must slumber to rekindle the sun. Viewed as an omnipresent cataclysmic event, mages and oracles from all over Terra try to view this event to explore ways to extend the time Terra has or put off Aechus’ Slumber all together. Many do not believe this prophecy, believing that it is a ploy to puff up the status of those who work with “intangible arts”.

The Great Unsettling

Prophesied by the Oracles of Sangin in 1781, when all members of the order suddenly screamed and then spoke in unison the above. This prophecy has been studied at length and many believe it indicates an unknown power to be found near Elswin, in the canton of Rheimar of the Dominion of Halif, causing the sleepy rural community to be over run with adventuring parties and politically-funded mercenaries. While stressful for the local farming community, it had been excellent for the economy with constant need for supporting trades and healers.

In Ascension’s Age, it is foretold,
A Great Unsettling will surely unfold.
Where Copper, Gold and Emerald meet,
A force unbridled hides its seat.
To Esaress’ west and Lakefield’s east,
Slumbers Desire the inner beast.
At the crossroads by a river’s bend,
World powers shall crumble, new heroes will wend.
Under fresh moonlight, the Seal will break,
With scattered shards, the First Shall wake.
Hold high your blade, and steady your heart,
Lone comfort it holds as Change doth start.

On January 15, 1795 in the late afternoon in Elswin, Rheimar, Dominion of Halif during the First Moon Festival, the Sangi Danae Otun and other oracles in the area repeated the above prophecy but with a second verse as below. An metallic sphere at the festival glowed at the prophecies close and Danae fainted after touching it and saying that it must be identified. Said sphere shattered when a young enterprising mage picked it up to do just that, and its container and Danae were brought to the local Oathsworn Consortium tower. The object was identified as some form of warded lock involving both Rift and Augmentation magics, while containing traces of blood, iron and spent manacite. Those gathered hypothesized that they had accidentally had released some form of Extraplanar being, probably a Changeling.

Raised from death and cast low by greed,
The First will whisper all you need.
Shed blood and sweat, harvesting fear,
The First grows strong, its freedom near.
The powers that be will rush for change,
The First will rise, its minions range.
The Lesser shall weep, the Merciless grow tall,
As the Unsettling upheaves and consumes us all.

As the moon rises high and silvers the road,
A way forward is revealed
To wandering and discontent souls
Seeking to start anew.
From border to border, the lost will gather,
In the shadow of ruins disturbed.
