Brief Timeline
Sun Feb 09, 2020 7:53 pm
The following is a brief timeline that will be added to as more is discovered in the game world. It is important to remember that the world of RoH is our world if the worst should happen. As such many place names may be familiar to you.
Our starting Branch takes place in Stormont, a comparatively rural area on the banks of the St. Lawrence River in Eastern Ontario about 100 km from the Capital Valley (oog: Ottawa) and 130 km from the Monreal Wastes (oog: Montreal). Stormont was established as multi-faction neutral territory to test if the remaining bits of humanity are ready to work together as a cohesive whole.

December 20-26, 2020: The Week of Fire
In the span of a week, several countries launch missiles resulting in the destruction of many large cities and the dissolution of the UN, the WHO and other global organizations. Death toll innumerable. Individuals with money and influence are spirited away to private bunkers, while many others evacuate to the underground portions of cities, most other areas are too irradiated to sustain life.
January 29, 2021 : The BBC does not make their usual broadcast of "darkened" cities.
February 6, 2021 : The BBC broadcast re-commences from a different location. South African cities Pretoria and Johannesburg confirmed dark, alongside Melbourne, Australia; Edinburgh and Dundee, Scotland.
May 14, 2021: First reported sighting of a Rift. Witness dies of radiation sickness within hours.
May 18, 2021 : The BBC makes their final broadcast warning whoever is watching and listening to avoid the surface. A nuclear winter sets in.
From June 13, 2021 through November 11, 2093 is The Silence where global communication had come to a halt. Humanity perseveres, and the world changes. It is hard to determine when the first mutations arise as so little of this period of history was recorded for public record.
November 11, 2093 : A telegraph line is finished being laid running underneath the Alps reconnecting the former countries of Switzerland and France. All but one member of the team perishes from radiation exposure within a month of their success. The last person is recorded to have gone mad having suddenly attacked and partially consumed their child (on 27/11/93)
August 26, 2095 : The Allied Havens of Swissland are founded between the newly named Havens of Vaud, Peel, Bath and Calais. This becomes known as Hope Day, and is often celebrated with potluck gatherings and academic discussions.
June 17, 2096: The first CEO Appreciation Day is celebrated by Aegis Corp and soon spreads to other corporations as a time-honoured tradition to honour your CEO with bribes in hopes of possible advancement, while pranking and setting up your rivals to fail. In return most CEOs will grant a prize to the best candidate.
March 2097: The Zionist Church of Namibia claims to have found a method of purification, but insist that pilgrims must make their way to them to have the rite performed.
June 2105: Meteorologists predict that the nuclear winter will clear in 10 or so years.
August 2108 : Project LiveWire (sponsored by the Allied Havens of Swissland) departs the Haven of Peel, located on the Isle of Man.
September 2108 : Project LiveWire arrives in Old Canada, mooring at the Rock.
October 2108 : Project LiveWire arrives in Eastern Ontario
November 17, 2108: Project LiveWire Phase one is complete in the region of Stormont. The LiveWire team chooses to remain in Canada founding the Stormont Communication Hub.
March 2116 : The snow begins to melt for the first time since before The Silence.
January 5, 2119 : Citizens of Stormont gather at the SCH for trade and to establish a more permanent community.
July, 2119 : Following revelations regarding the dangerous extraplanar fungal species, the Dera, the Sacred and Tainted factions unite to form the Faithful, with a central council to create a more balanced response to this challenge of Faith.
August 2119 : Following attacks upon Swiss havens around the world, the Allied Havens of Swissland sign several treaties and join the Corporate fold.

October 2119
A large rift opens, allowing 2-way travel between Earth and Dakkan, a primarily reptilian world. Home to the radiation resistant Katak (a feudal lizardfolk race) and the Dakkani (technologically advanced humans who were location-displaced by the Cataclysm which created the Chasm by Vaud, Switzerland)
November 2119
A stable rift is found linking Earth and Koorime, home of two opposing telepathic races : the Wyrelings (crystalline bipeds with tentacle-like appendages on their faces) and the Dera (a fungal hive which infects other creatures to propagate). Members of Project LiveWire explore the surface of Koorime and return an important technological component that restores some functionality to the Wyrelings' defense grid, dealing a massive blow to the Dera's infestation on Koorime and on Earth.
January 2120
A well-preserved bunker, originally made by Beaudoin Labs, is found kicking off some exploration into the past and recovery of lost tech.
February 2120
The second Beaudoin bunker is explored with clues leading to a third.
March 2120
The mission to the third bunker is postponed due to a massive flock of cobra chickens settling to nest. Some people start to show symptoms of flu.
April 2120
Members of LiveWire explore south of the St Lawrence to find a town presumably cleared out by disease.
September 2121
LiveWire and the SCH return to the third bunker to stabilize the Rift energies found in the third lab. Using tech borrowed from the Dakkani, a stable 2-way portal is temporarily created allowing the exploration of Para --an alien world where time moves 5x slower than on Earth. Home to the Dobie, a spider-race who claims ancestry to the Human-like Hadobie, Para has very few plants and animals which are friendly to human consumption. Here the team not only recovers the 3rd piece of a schematic, allowing the successful creation and then breakdown study of a Composting "Fution" Reactor, but also a human scientist who was born before the Cataclysm in the World Before.
Friction between the Dobie and LiveWire results in two members of the team staying with the Dobie, one as a guest, the other as a replacement captive, for the duration of 5 Earth months (1 month on Para).

2122
Sun Jan 08, 2023 4:03 pm
The events of 2122 will be added but centre around the rise of Cult of Craven, a xenophobic Faithful congregation who experiments on revered and feared local fauna to make "defenders of Earth".
August 2122
A visitor from the Wyreling world (Koorime) comes to meet with members of Project LiveWire and collect samples to make comparisons between Earth and her homeworld. Dubbed Quartz (since her mind-name is too complex for human speech), this Wyreling works with the tactical team assigned to escort her when the SCH's project lead, Dr Kine, has been abducted. It is discovered that the abductees are none other than the Cult of Craven and they are most definitely linked to not only the bird-spread plague, but also the creation of new variants of goose. Unfortunately, the team is not able to catch up with the CoC before Dr Kine's lifeless body appears through a Rift, although the scaled doctor seemed to take a chance of suicide to escape as her body had a number of new scars with clues on how to hunt the CoC down.
October 2122
Aegis and SCH rally with the Pathseekers, Hosers and the Hearth of Andria to orchestrate a number of small skirmishes to hunt down the xenophobic cult that has been disrupting their operations, trade routes and torturing the more mutated members of the general population. A number of mechageese are caught and fitted with trackers; those who do not fly south obviously have a means of wintering locally and the data collected over the subsequent months allows the Project LiveWire alliance to close in on the CoC leading to a final assault in January 2123.

The Project LiveWire alliance stages their final assault on the Cult of Craven. It is believed that Craven and 5 of his adherents are still at large following the assault, although most of their congregation met their final end. The below is an extract from the Comms Officer's Log:

With the successful assault on the last compound of the Cult of Craven, the participants of Project LiveWire can take a moment to breathe to honour their dead and catalogue the findings brought back.
With no confirmed sign of their leader Dr Kenny Freud Craven, though reports of a Juggernaut-capable human male perishing to the might of Team 3 and subsequently Riftwalking, it is assumed the enigmatic scientist is still at large. Of the remaining 11 CoC, 1 escaped to be caught at a demonstration the following day in St Albert, 2 were captured on site, 3 have been captured post-Riftwalk and 5 remain at large after Riftwalking. The other congregants seemed to have met their final end and did not Riftwalk after perishing; their funerary rites are being seen to by the Hearth of Andria. Their quick ends in combat seem only fitting after what they did to my Aunt Melissa (may her knowledge live on) back in August.
Following intelligence gathered during the course of the assault, a demonstration against trade with Dakkan and Katak in St Albert was attended and the speaker (as mentioned above) was apprehended for questioning; other attendees have been added to the SCH's watch list.
The compound itself is being processed by Aegis Corporation, whether or not the structure remains sound after the assault has yet to be determined. I have yet been unable to crack the small computer brought back, however I was able to determine that the Morse print out brought back matches a message signed KFC that was sent out on a broad spectrum. Either Craven thought to hide his trail by sending those odd words (Liberate Earth. I rise today.) to everyone or that was a public declaration of martyrdom leading me to believe that the male Juggernaut Team 3 faced was indeed the missing doctor.
With regards to the deceased Wyreling youth recovered by Team 3, their body has been put in cold storage until their people can traverse their Rift at the next new moon while their heart crystal has been preserved according to Wyreling practice.
As the various parties involved in the assault return to their respective bases, the SCH's rhythm seems to return to normal with travelers being given room and board in exchange for usage of their skills. With much information to analyze and many repairs to make and autopsies to perform, it promises to be a much quieter winter than the previous year...as long as the 3-headed cobra chicken the cultists were calling Animkiig and its storms do not return.
